The reason we use these butters & oils in our skin care range

Avocado Butter/oil

Rich in vitamin A,D & E it is a great oil for dry, damaged skin & is said to be good as a first line of defense against wrinkles due to its regenerative  ability.

Calendula oil
The petals of the Calendula are gently infused in a carrier oil for 2-4 weeks.
Calendula is said to be a soothing oil & is widely used in the treatment of eczema & other inflammatory skin conditions.

Carrot Oil

This wonderful orange oil is rich in Beta-carotene & vitamins A,B,C,D,E & F. The carrots are chopped then added to a carrier oil such as Sunflower oil & then it is agitated & left for a 2-4 weeks. It is an excellent oil for dry skin & is said to help with wrinkles so is a good oil to use in products for the throat & neck.
It is said to energise the skins natural regenerative process so softening scar tissue helping it to heal.

Cocoa Butter

Helps to keep the skin supple & soft. It is excellent for use on very dry, chapped, dehydrated skin as it soothes, protects & moisturises. It is a natural source of vitamin E & is often used on skin prone to eczema & other such conditions. It melts on contact with the skin & is slowly absorbed.

Coconut oil.

Can be used for many skin complaints from eczema to nappy rash. It is said to have antioxidant properties which help to protect from the damaging effects of the sun. In soap it used for its rich creamy lather.

Comfrey

This herb used to be know as knit bone as it was said to help heal broken bones. We now use it to help heal damaged skin, ulcers & skin that is very chapped. It has the active ingredient Allantion which is said to be a powerful cell proliferate.

Evening primrose.

High in GLA this oil is said to be useful for sufferers of Eczema, & other dry skin disorders.

Jojoba oil (Wax)

This is a wonderful oil for the face as it has the ability to penetrate the topmost layer of the skin. This makes it an excellent oil for chapped & damaged skin. It is equally good for oily skin prone to blackheads as it resembles the skin's natural oil (Sebum) so helping to balance oily skin conditions.

Neem Tree oil

This oil is said to have natural anti-bacteria, anti-septic & anti-fungal properties. It is also said to have insect repelling properties. Making it a good choice for use in shampoo soap to keep head lice away.

Olive Wax

This is a substitute for beeswax so is suitable for vegan products. There are no chemicals used  in the process of making the olive wax that we use, so it is pure. Beeswax can contain some residue from the pesticide that some bee keepers use & some bee keepers no longer smoke blow the bees to calm them but instead use creosote spray which is know to be carcinogenic.
Olive wax provides a water retaining, protective barrier to the skin making it an ideal choice for babies nappy rash.

Shea Butter

This is a highly moisturising butter which has mild anti-inflammatory & anti-bacteria properties. It melts on contact with the skin, so is idea for body butters & balms. Good for dry, dehydrated, damaged, chapped, sore skin.

Sunflower oil

Is very high in vitamins A,B,D & E, Minerals, Essential fatty acids & lecithin, making it an excellent choice for skin care.

 Sweet almond oil

Is a common used oil in skin care, it is rich in nutrition including vitamin E, unsaturated fats and essential fatty acids. It has a softening action on the skin and is useful for lubrication in massage because while it is not a heavy oil.

Thistle oil

Is rich in omega 3 & 6. It is good for all skin conditions especially damaged oily skin. It is easily absorbed in to the skin making it an excellent choice for body butters.
